What's hard
Cross-border trade language pain is subtle:
- Reads fine, can't follow speech: emails, technical docs, contract clauses — all readable. The first sentence of a Zoom call still loses you.
- Accent + cadence + speed: Indian, Southeast Asian, European, and Latin American clients each have different rhythms.
- Meetings move fast: by the time you finish translating in your head, the client is already waiting on your answer.
- Critical info must be exact: prices, specs, lead times, payment terms — missing a single number is expensive.
Why mainstream tools fall short:
- Otter / JotMe transcribe + translate but lag, are one-direction, and don't let you "speak natively while the client hears English"
- DeepL / Google Translate are batch tools, not real-time
- Zoom AI Companion is Zoom-only, paid, and doesn't handle Chinese-as-source two-way simul-interpret
- Live human interpreters are expensive, slow, and add a confidentiality vector
How CrossMeet handles it
A two-way "see + speak" toolkit:
- Listening: ASR puts source text on screen in 100ms — you catch 80% instantly. LLM translation back-fills in parallel.
- Speaking: you speak your native language → CrossMeet translates → TTS rides a virtual microphone into Zoom / Teams / Meet → the client hears native English.
- Critical moments: switch to compose-bar to type + see live translation + correct manually + send — for prices, numbers, and contract language where "close enough" is unacceptable.
Extras that matter in trade work:
- 30+ languages, any pair: Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Arabic, Vietnamese — not just EN ↔ ZH
- Glossary: your product names, client company names, industry terms — never mistranslated
- RAG knowledge base: upload product manuals, price sheets, contract templates — the LLM speaks your business context, not generic AI translationese
- History export: every session is captured; export source + translation + AI summary as Markdown / DOCX / PDF for recap, follow-up, and team handoff
Configuration suggestions
- Solo SOHO / freelancer: Pro Lifetime $89 (early-bird capped) or Pro Yearly $39
- 5-20 person export team: Team $279/yr (10 seats + LAN engine sharing + shared glossary / RAG)
- Large export groups (30+ people): Enterprise — centralized licensing, knowledge base, optional private deployment
- Engine stack: default Whisper API + Claude 3.7 (cloud, best quality); switch to local for privacy-critical sessions
- Glossary is mandatory: client company names, product SKUs, industry terms, country / region names
- Prompt template: trade-domain prompt ("use Incoterms 2020", "preserve original currency and units")
